A call for artists for DSU Alumni. The artwork could relate to any interpretation of It’s Our Time.
For so many reasons I felt compelled to enter this photograph taken on the saddest day of my life. The photograph depicted a line from the few lines I was able to write to say at my Son’s Celebration of Life Service. However, the photograph was not taken until after the ceremony. I did not artistically try to take this photograph. It is what I like to refer to as a D.O.P.E. (Divine Order Perfectly Executed) moment. One I could not have captured if I tried. How would I do it? The image was not altered.
Ironically, the young lady in the image was celebrating her birthday that day and decided to spend it with me in to attempt to help ease my pain. We went to the water at Battery Park, in New Castle, Delaware and as always, I had my camera. It’s therapeutic. When I looked over the images several days later, it jumped out because again, it literally captured the visual representation of my words. I can’t explain it, but to me, it felt like an “Our Time” kind of moment. Mother and Son together no matter what dimension.
It was selected to be a part of the exhibition that ran from September 19 ~ November 14, 2019.
